BackDoor Draft

There should be no reason why people don't understand John Kerry when he says there is a backdoor draft going on. It means that soldiers already enlisted are being drafted. Forced to go back to Iraq when they have served their time. Sending veterans to another country against their will is a great thing, isn't it?

It's not. It needs to stop. And when Kerry says something bad about Bush, I'm pretty confident he's going to work his hardest to make sure that doesn't happen under a Kerry Administration.

Wait, do I really trust Kerry? Especially after his "record" and all? Yes, I do. I feel strongly I can trust this man more than the liar who has ruled over our country for four long years.

Saying that John Kerry becomes President, he has the opportunity to accomplish great things. What makes him qualified is:

* He is President (will be)

* He is the current President (and after seeing what works and doesn't with 43 other presidents, he has an advantage)

John Kerry can stop the backdoor draft. Bush will not, he obviously supports it.

While I agree with you that the "backdoor draft" is a terrible way of doing business, it's part of a contract that a servicemember enters into when they enlist.

"Stop loss" is also part of the contract.

While it makes sense, keeping soldiers already trained...rather than trying to enlist new ones just to go through training and deploy...sucks. However, I would think that America's mothers and fathers would rather have seasoned people leading their sons and daughters, rather than "90 day Wonders."

Let's hope that the current strategy that is really limited...in the use of the "backdoor" draft, in comparison to the forces on the ground works for the time being as we continue to train the Iraqi Defense Forces and police.

From the high ground!

So if you don't resend some troops to replace troops that are finishing their tours, who will you send? Take that thought a step further, if the troop levels are drawn down under a (God forbid) Kerry Administration, they we will lose the war and fail.

If you listen to Kerry on the campaign trail, I mean really listen, you will hear that he has promised to do everything in his power to win in Iraq. I guess that means he will use the same measures that the President is using to win the war.

Where will you stay if that happens? Remember you freaking liberals can't have it both ways.

I surfed in from blogexplosion.com. my blog: htpp://glimmergirl77.bravejournal.com

I agree with you. I, too, am a young left-winger, probably moreso than most, I've noticed. I think people are missing the point of what kerry is saying with the backdoor draft. this war was started under false pretenses, that's the entire point. bush sends in whoever he can get his dirty hands on only to be able to say, "see? there's no draft, these people signed UP to be in the military". the problem is, many of the military personnel did not sign up for war, they signed up to pay for college, to do mechanical work, etc. they were told that there is no way they would go to war based on the position they signed up to be in. but now bush is sending these same people over to iraq as fighting soldiers. why don't more people see something wrong with this? kerry is right, we DO need to finish what we started (thanks bush, you idiot), but we need to get out to there as fast as posible, without sending MORE troups in who aren't prepared, or keeping troups there way after they are scheduled to go home. america does not equal world police.
